Research work undergoing in field of Tuberculosis :

  • Studies of various biomarkers in diagnosis and pathogenesis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Extra pulmonary Tuberculosis have been undertaken using various technique such as ELISA, Proteomics, PCR and Animal Cell Culture &  BAcT/ALERT 3D
  • Analysis of fatty acid profiles of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolated from various clinical specimens by using Gas Chromatography – Fatty Acid Methyl Esterase (GC-FAMEs).
  • Prime boost strategies using novel antigens and peptides of MTB to improve efficacy of BCG vaccine in cell line and animal models.
  • Invitro Antibody production using Goat Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cell Model (PBMC)
  • Differential Diagnosis of Latent from Active Tuberculosis using Immunological and Proteomic Biomarkers


Research on Stroke and Bacterial Meningitis has also being initiated by Institute :

  • Study of biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke is being carried out.
  • Development of animal model to study biomarkers in post stroke brain edema.
  • Standardization and evaluation of Pseudomonas and Streptococcus nested PCR for detection of bacterial meningitis has been undertaken.
  • Diagnosis of Chikungunya by ELISA based methods


Viral studies also being carried out in the Institute :

  • Studies have been undertaken for diagnosis of Chikungunya infection by detecting viral antigen in blood and CSF samples.
  • Development of in house diagnostic kit of neuroviruses has been undertaken.
  • A new experimental protocol is being developed to analyze HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) viral load in blood and CSF samples.
  • Institute has initiated a study on herbal drugs

  • Identification and Characterization of Ayurvedic Drugs useful in clot lysis and immunomodulation has being carried out.
  • Development of endothelial cell line model to investigate the clot lytic activity of Ayurvedic drugs.
  • Neuroprotective effects of some Ayurvedic drugs in treatment of Ischemic stroke in animal model.
